Confessions of a Clutter Bug - Cleaning My Closets

It's a gloomy rainy day here in the NC. The weather is kinda bringing me down. It's not very motivating when I have so much to do in the house. With plenty of time on my hands, I have decided to finally start cleaning out the cabinets and closets. The clutter in my house has really taken it's toll on the family. No, the place doesn't look like an episode of Hoarders. However, the cabinets and closets are full of junk! Things that have some how made their home behind these little closed doors. My boyfriend has some type of freakin OCD or something. He's got to have everything looking clean or he'll lose his mind. There are times when he has to help me clean the house because it has gotten out of hand and I'm too overwhelmed to do it myself. But, what he does is really make the problem worse. Instead of finding the proper place to put something that is sitting out, he just throws everything into random cabinets and closets. So, when he is done the place looks pretty clean...on the outside!
It is to the point now that I have laundry baskets full of clothes all over the house. Most of it is clean but I have no where to put it. The bedroom closets, where the clothes should live, is now full of useless shit! Stuff nobody wants and clothes nobody can wear. I have 3 kids ages 14, 4, and 2. As I was having my younger two kids everyone donated baby clothes to me. Which I appreciated because I was broke at the time and couldn't buy much. Now all those old baby clothes are in trash bags in the closet. Even though  my younger kids are 4 and 2 , I still have newborn baby clothes everywhere.
I believe at one point I tried to sort through everything. Following the tips of professional organizing blogs, I sorted into, trash, donate, keep and sell boxes. That helped a little but keep, sell and donate are still around. I'm a procrastinator! In my mind, I was really going to sell clothing lots on Ebay. That never happened and the clothes are still here. I can barely keep up with my kids. How am I supposed find time to take pictures of the clothes, post them to ebay, follow the auction and ship it out on time. You never make any money on that stuff because the shipping and Ebay fees eat up any profit you might have made.
Anyway, before I start going off about Ebay and ramble on anymore, I'm going to go around and take pictures of the key areas that I want to tackle by this weekend. Then, I'm going to post them here. Yes, that's right, that's what you all want to see, real people dirt!

Heinz Cleaning Vinegar

There are so many different things you can do around the house with vinegar. If you are tired of spending money on household cleaning products then, this is the answer. Vinegar has cleaning, anti-bacterial and grease cutting properties. I'm going to list a few things you can do with this inexpensive household staple...

1. Add 2 Tbsp of White Vinegar to the water when boiling eggs. This will keep the eggs from cracking while boiling and also helps shells peel off easier

2. Cut dust and grease by wiping down exhaust fan grills, air conditioning grills and ceiling fan blades with White Vinegar

3. Vinegar Does Windows. Use White Vinegar full strength in a spray bottle for sparkling clean, streak free glass.

4. Soak your shower head in a container of white vinegar overnight to remove lime deposits.

5. Cut Flowers will stay fresh and live longer when you add 2 Tbsp of White Vinegar and 3 Tbsp of sugar to a quart of water. 

6. Use as a fruit and veggie wash. Clean away dirt and bacteria by soaking fruits and veggies in vinegar and water for about 10 minutes then rinse with cold water. 

7. Soften and remove residue build up from your laundry by adding 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.

8. Ant problem? Use equal parts of white vinegar and water in spray bottle. Spray around windowsills, door jams and cracks.

9. Make pasta and rice less sticky and starchy by add a dash of white vinegar to the boiling water.

10. Keep your car window frost- free in winter. Spray window with 3 parts White Vinegar and 1 part water. Leave overnight and you'll have frost-free windows in the morning.

Save Money on Baby Wipes

I have 2 toddlers at home. I always seemed to be buying more and more wipes every time I was at the store. I end up using wipes for everything. I clean the kids, counter tops, toilets, the laptop and flat screen TV! Each time I would try a different brand. Some were too small, too thin, smelled weird. One day I saw a display by the baby section of Walmart with these Equate Shea Butter refill packs. 240 wipes comparable to Huggies for $4.72! This is even cheaper than their Parents Choice brand (3 pack bundle, 216 wipes). I took the wipes home and I liked them a lot. They are thick and smell pleasant. They also seemed to last longer. However, on my next trip to buy them, the display was no longer there and I could not find them in the baby section. They now stock them in the Health & Beauty section! This is where they stock the anti-bacterial wipes such as Wet Ones. So happy they didn't stop carrying them. That is what usually happens as soon as I find a product at Walmart that I really like, they will discontinue it. The wipes only come in 2 varieties, Shea Butter and Naturally Gentle (Fragrance Free). You really can't beat the price and they are good quality wipes.
